Please watch this five-minute excerpt from Humana film by Yann Arthus-Bertran, and take a few moments to reflect on what makes us human. Maybe you’ll write a stanza or story inspired by Francine Christophe in the comment section below.

I think many things make us human. The fact that we all help one another when we need it most. Or even when we help ourselves at any time of need. I think setting an impact on the world is also a great example of us being human. I mean in one way or another we’ve all tried to do something beyond our expectations. We’ve all tried reaching above the stars and even the moon and I think that’s what makes us human. Our determination, hope and selflessness. Some of us have goals and others have hopes. Or some even have both and that’s perfectly fine because what makes us human is the effort we put towards something. When we reach for the moon but only land on the stars, it’s your choice to choose to keeping fighting for the moon or to settle for the stars.

Our choices are what make us human. The way we act in situations. We either give up or die trying. It’s always what we put our mind and heart to. We either help someone who’s helped us or leave them down in the ditch when they need us most. Our reaction to situations is what make us human. But one of the most important things that make us human is our passions; the things we live for. It could be anything. An instrument, a sport, writing or photographing, a special person, a pet, education, the future, or even happiness. It’s not only the big things, but the little things that make us who we are. It’s every little detail that make us who we are, that make us human.
